Thank you for all the years of Community discussions and activity!

The time has come for us to retire the community forums, but we will keep everything available for reading. There is a lot of valuable content written over the years, and you'll be able to access all of that. However, no new posts can be written, or old posts modified.

If you have questions, we recommend you use the Support function on the bottom right corner to contact our Customer Support directly.

Alternatively, if you wish to engage in a community discussion with other people, there are many active forums available. There is also an active, fan managed GENELEC COMMUNITY in Facebook, and many Genelec employees are active in the discussions there.

We are sorry for any possible inconvenience this may cause you, but we hope to hear from you through the other channels mentioned above.

Running Genelecs always on or cut the power?

Is there any reason not to cut the power of my Genelecs (1037C) through a main power switch when they are not in use? Are there any sonic advantages or reliability issues to be expected when running them "always on" instead? Or does it simply not matter (other than the power bill and enviromental concerns that is)?

Hello,

Thanks for your post. There are no reasons to leave your monitoring system on while they are not in use. As you state, for environmental concerns about unnecessary power consumtion, any equipment that is not in use should be switched off.

The careful electronic design of our monitoring systems has been made so that our systems can be left on all the time if necessary. Such technical request comes from the post- and broadcast industry as well as large recording studios where facilities are working 24h/7days a week.

Best regards,
