The time has come for us to retire the community forums, but we will keep everything available for reading. There is a lot of valuable content written over the years, and you'll be able to access all of that. However, no new posts can be written, or old posts modified.

If you have questions, we recommend you use the Support function on the bottom right corner to contact our Customer Support directly.

Alternatively, if you wish to engage in a community discussion with other people, there are many active forums available. There is also an active, fan managed GENELEC COMMUNITY in Facebook, and many Genelec employees are active in the discussions there.

We are sorry for any possible inconvenience this may cause you, but we hope to hear from you through the other channels mentioned above.

Smaller 82X0 monitor.

Hello,

I had a closer look at the tech specs of the 82X0 versus their 80X0 equivalents. What caught my eye is that the frequency is +/- 1dB vs. +/- 2dB and the response graph seems a lot more smooth. Is this just due to the digital crossover or is there additional filtering or phase alignment in the DSP?

The best matching speaker for my room size would be a 8Y30, so my question is if you plan to release an 8230 some day? I am aware that the DSP SE system would be quite similar to a 8230/7260 combination but lacking some flexibility I would apreciate.

Best regards
Thommy

Hello,

Thanks for your post and comments. Concerning your question, here is a reply from Dr Mäkivirta from our R&D department:

Hello,

The 8240A and 8250A have driver equalization done in the DSP domain. This enables much more detailed corrections which results in a smoother on axis response with less deviations. Both analog 8000 series and DSP 8200 series loudspeakers have excellent flatness. Even our +/-2 dB specification for analog products is an excellent spec.

I should also mention here that we calibrate and measure every single loudspeaker individually before it leaves the factory, so we can guarantee that all loudspeakers we ship fulfill this specification.

Concerning our portfolio, we continually develop our products, including 8030 sized products.
