8020 vs 8030 with 7050?

Youngling Viestejä: 2 Liittymispäivä: 28.9.2009 Viimeisimmät viestit
Hi!

I´m interested in the following setup:

1 pcs 7050 BPM subwoofer
2 pcs 8020 BPM (and then buy 3 pcs more if I want to set it up for surround mixing)

What would be the biggest difference if I would change the 8020 to a pair of 8030?

Best wishes

Hello,

Thanks for your post. Your system is well balanced with 2x or 5x 8020B and a 7050B subwoofer. If you move to the 8030A model, two issues need to be addressed:

1. The standards and recommendation concerning multichannel audio reproduction indicate clearly that all 3 front loudspeakers should be of the same type to keep a coherent sound stage imaging and identical tonal characteristics. So, in your case, that means that you should go for 3x 8030A for L-C-R. You can of course keep 8020B's in the rear, no problem there.

2. The second issue is directly related to the first one: that is the sub selection. if you select 3 x 8030A's in the front you will need a matching subwoofer in terms of max SPL and headroom. Remember that the sub has to cope with the LF content (below 85 Hz) of 5 discrete main channels. So, that means that the right sub is now the 7060B model.

You can also consult our speaker selection guide under:

Hope this is helpful.
