Have I adjusted the 6010's correctly?

I recently got my pair of the 6010 monitors and must say I'm happy with them so far, they're lacking bass but I'll get the 5040A soon. But my questions is, have I adjusted the monitors correctly? They're standing on a table with a concrete wall behind them, 10-15cm from the wall. I have Desktop Control turned on aswell as Bass Tilt -4 dB. I followed the guide that came with the speakers but on on of these they told me to put -6 dB Bass Tilt and on the quick setup guide they said -4 dB Bass Tilt. The space between the monitors are around 50cm aswell as 50cm to the listening position and speakers.

Oh and almost forgot. The Input Sensitivity is set to Min. I'm using my Creative XMod as source for now, but will later on get myself a Cambridge Audio DacMagic DAC. Is that right aswell?

Thanks!

Hello,

Thanks for your post and for purchasing our products. Concerning the 6010A's placement, first you could consider to raise them away from the table surface, so that their acoustic axes are aligned vertically to your ears. That will make a significant difference to the sound quality. Also, as the speakers are away from the reflective table surface, such first reflections will be minimized and hence they will interfere less with the direct sound. Meaning, better sound quality for you!

To have the Desktop Control turned on is good. Even with physically raised speakers that control is needed and will improve the flatness of the frequency response.

Now, for the Bass tilt setting, careful listening only will reveal which is the best setting in your setup. I would certainly start with -4 dB Bass tilt and listen to well known well recorded music material first. The bass should sound tight, defined, clear and precise. If the mids seem fuzzy and not clear as well as the bass rich and heavy, then you might want to try -6 dB and test again with the same music materials.

For the input sensitivity, it has no effect on the sound quality. It is more a connectivity and interfacing issue, depending on the equipment you have which sends audio signals to the speakers. There is no right or wrong here. Just set it as it suits you.

Best regards,

Yeah I was at my local dealer asking for those Genelec glass stands but there was none. In order to have them on the same height as my ears they need to be lifted around 30cm, or as high as the Genelec 6010 boxes are. Are there any good solution for me? I know there are some Genelec glass stands, but they won't raise that high If I understood the picture correctly.

Hello,

You could consult our on-line Accessories catalogue for further mounting options and suggestions. Check page 3, where we have a short table stand - 170 mm in height. That might be sufficient.

If not, you could also look into short microphone stands (kick drum stand type) at your nearest dealer.
