Alternatively, if you wish to engage in a community discussion with other people, there are many active forums available. There is also an active, fan managed GENELEC COMMUNITY in Facebook, and many Genelec employees are active in the discussions there.

We are sorry for any possible inconvenience this may cause you, but we hope to hear from you through the other channels mentioned above.

"Running" Genelec loudspeakers ?

Youngling Viestejä: 7 Liittymispäivä: 6.4.2009 Viimeisimmät viestit
Dear Genelec team,

Is it necessary to "run" your loudspeakers (like a car) for a period of several hours (50h for instance) before increasing the volume until the highest ? Or is it already realized in your factory ?

Maybe some models must be run (3-way, main monitors, subwoofers) and others mustn't (2-way monitors) :?:

Thank you very much for your answer.
Kind regards,

Olivier Gachignard.

Dear Olivier Gachignard,

Thanks for your post. The necessity to so-call 'run-in' loudspeakers came from the 70's, where surroundings, suspensions, diaphragms, spiders, glue, etc, were made from other materials than the ones we use today. To get proper performance a 'run-in' period was sometimes requested.

Nowadays, the modern materials used in loudspeaker drivers do not request such run-in times. Detailed performance and quality control tests of our drivers are done for each batch of drivers entering our production. Also, comparative performance tests are done on models that are 10, or more, years old to make sure there are no performance alterations.

Best regards,
