Hi , i own two 8020's & one 7050 subwoofer as my stereo setup.the sound is good & loud when i play music.but when i play Movies on some scenes when the volume of the DVD scene is high ,then it is audible.but some scenes where the volume of recording is low i find it difficult to listen to dialogues.
i have connected my Genelecs to a DVD player directly.any suggestions what i can do about it?

This is a pretty common problem and is due to the people that master DVDs using much more of the dynamic range available than the CD people. A normal commercial chart CD will only use 20dB or so of the available range, a DVD will often use 40dB+.

Therefore you have a few options:

Reduce the noise floor in the room so you can here the quiet bits?
Put up with the volume of the loud bits?
Compress the DVD to use less of the dynamic range; some DVD players have this option?

I am having a very similar issue at the moment with a cinema in a hot tub cabin, its great with the Jacuzzi turned off, but due to the noise floor coming up with the Jacuzzi on you can not here the speech, therefore we are fitting an external compressor to resolve the problem.

Dupe,

there is no external noise in the room, the volume of the genelec speakers & of the DVD player is at MAX.
I dont think my DVD player can compress the DVD.
Will a Preamplifier like Denon 7100 solve the problem ? like increasing the volume on low volume scenes.with its option of Digital signal output & balanced lineouts.

Something does not sound correct in that case, connecting up 8020s to a DVD player should produce significant volume levels without any problem. Can you firstly check that you are connected to the left/right output and NOT the multi-channel left/right output; this would cause issues with level on some disks. Post a pic if possible and the model number of the DVD player. What cable connections you using, un bal to bal?
