GLM cable management with wall plates

Youngling Viestejä: 8 Liittymispäivä: 3.3.2015 Viimeisimmät viestit

I have 8320/7350 SAM monitors that I'm installing in a 5.1 setup and would like to run my cables through the walls for a cleaner set up.

I was wondering how are people managing their Cat5 cables. Are you getting custom wall plates made with XLR + Cat5 connections? Or simply running in standalone mode?

I am curious to hear about other people's setups before I spend a lot of money. :)

Thanks in advance.

Clark

I just completed my install for anyone who is consider doing something similar.

What I ended up doing:
- Ordered custom wall plate from Redco with XLR (2) and Cat 5 (1) connections for the surrounds. This is being fed by the 7350.
- Hired electrician to run XLR and Cat 5 through my walls
- Used 2" x 2" brush plates from Commercial Electric at the end of the cable runs to pass cables to the surrounds. Cables terminated with XLR-M + RJ45 connections. I had planned originally to use custom XLR/Cat 5 wall plates but the brush plates won out in the end for being smaller and less noticeable
- Mounted 8320's on the walls with Genelec 8000-422 wall mounts

I'm a fan of being able to run GLM for things like diagnostics and bass management so in the end I'm glad I went this route. Plus the install is much cleaner this way and keeps the wife happy.
