8030A and Wharfedale Subwoofer

Hi,

I bought a Wharfedale Diamond 10.SX-SUB to connect to my Genelec 8030A speakers, however there does not seem to be any sound. I am hoping to seek advice here on how to solve this issue.

My configuration is:

8030A Left Speaker Male XLR Output > Female-to-Female XLR Adapter > Male XLR to RCA Cable > Wharfedale Sub Left RCA In

Question:

1. Does having that adapter between the 8030A and Sub affect the signal, and that is why I do not hear any sound coming out to the Sub?

2. Am I right to say I can just take one XLR output from one of the 8030A speakers to the Sub, instead of having to take both left and right XLR outputs from both 8030A speakers to the left and right RCA inputs on the Sub?

I look forward to a working solution from the audio community here, thank you in advance for your time!

What kind of DAC preamp or amp do you use ?

I would suggest to get some RCA-XLR cables and skip all those adapters.

I would also suggest to sell that sub and buy a Genelec 7050b/7060b/7350A or a 7360A subwoofer.

It should work with that sub though if you connect everythng right but it's defenitely not a good mate for your nice genelecs.

Connection: From DAC/source L+R (RCA-RCA/XLR-RCA cables, depends on the amp) to the subs RCA inputs and from the subs RCA outputs RCA-XLR cables to the genelecs.

If you have a AVamp/preamp you should connect the sub directly to the amp in this situation & the speakers but I dont think this is the situation.
