Placement of 8040B

I just bought my first pair of Genelcs after having wanted them for quite a while. I've been having some trouble deciding whether to go with the 8340 or the 8040 but ended up with ordering the 8040 due to the 8340 being about EUR 1000 more expensive and quite a bit over my budget. Our current living room is 50 cubic meters and the listening position is about 3,5 meters away from the tv. Starting with a 2.0 setup but thinking i might add some speakers further down the road if wanting a 5/7.1 system. Currently a sub is out of the question.

The plan is to use the speakers for music (thorugh an Cambridge CXN v2) and movies.

So, the first question - where do you suggest putting the speakers? 60 degrees from listening position is roughly where the door opening is situated - is it better to go wider or narrower? I will put the speakers on the wall using genelecs brackets.

Also, as is visible the room is untreated and being a living room I wont be able to do any major treatments. Would the GLM-system be a major advantage for this type of situation - im assuming its for fine tuning and not the kind of tuning this room needs?

Finally, would there be a big difference between 8040 and 8340 when it comes to filling the room (considering the 8340 has 150W amplifiers compared to 90W for the 8040)? I would be able to return the 8040 if the concensus is that 8340 is the better choice even considering the steeper price tag.

the concensuns is that the DSP on 83x0 is super useful.

i'ts also the only way you are gonna get surround really. Delays, phase, volume.

you can get them as a pack with glm kit included.

I'd be in a good mind to mount one speaker on the door.

"honey, can you close the door, so i can listen to some music? close from the  outside please."
