7270A or 7350A for 8330A?

Greetings all,

I have an oppertunity to buy a 7270A for a fantastic price. Would it be a good paring with the 8330As, or would the newer 7350A be better intergrated performance wise?

Thank you!

the 7270 is digital only.

surely the better choice if the weight is not a turn-off.

but impossible to integrate in any other future context.

I don’t think being solely digital is a strike against the 7270. I’d personally only run AES with Genelec; it simply sounds better.

However, Genelec recommends matching the 8330 with the 7350, so my concern would be LF of the 7270 that overwhelms the mix. You can probably compensate with the GLM, but I don’t see the point.

If that’s of any help, I own the 7350 and 7360, which I experimentally matted with 8331 x 2 and, despite Genlec’s published recommendation, eventually opted for the smaller 7350.

overpowering the mix isn't a problem, after calibration you'll have perfect levels.

but you'll have a sub that has way more headroom an weight than you'll ever need. unless surround.
