8351 vs 7360 sub bass sound

Hi,

I don't have chance to listen 8351 in a environment where there's no dipping in the sub bass frequency.
I only have a chance to listen 8351 at my dealer's place or my own room which having the same dip in the sub bass frequency.

Recently, I have a chance to try 8351 with a 7360 in my own room. (crossover at 100Hz)
The bass sounds quite good to me (doesn't feels like it is detach from the stereo sound)

Because of my sub optimal environment, 8351 dips at:

  • left (40-50Hz / 55H~65Hz)
  • right (55-60Hz / 80-100Hz

Placing 7360 at near wall can further extend the bass dips only at:

  • 50-60Hz (after trying a few placement)

Comparing the 8351 & 7360 sub bass sound:
8351 sub bass sound is "duuup" thinner punch
7360 sub bass sound is "booom" fatter / fuller / thicker punch

My question is

  1. How should a sub bass sounds? "duuup" or "booom"?
  2. 8351 or 7360 reproduce a truer sub bass sound?

Thanks
Eng

1: depend how you like it but it should fit seamlessly with the rest of the sound(from the speaker) from the crossover down.

2:7360 is a subwoofer so it will produce the deeper "bass sounds" or lower frequencies.

I would try to do something with the sub dip and the right monitor dip, they are pretty huge.. cant be fixed with a crossover change.

It sounds seamlessly to me, I can't detect where is the sub bass sound came from.

I prefer 7360 sub bass sound compare to 8351. Depends on materials, I can listen to kick drum / certain bass easier.

I tried a few placement & that's the best sub dip I can get.
