Gen 8030 bpm + subwoofer

I am new here, so " hello " to you all good folks !

I am looking for an answer to my problem :

- Do I need a subwoofer to mix my songs with the gen 8030 bpm ? or is it OK for a good start in the mixing job ?

I'm recording and mixing pop music, sometimes rock, sometimes bluesy ( acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano, drums, bass, few electro sounds, voices ) in a 12m2 and 27 m2 room.
I'm using an M-Audio FireWire Solo which has 1 spdif out and 2 Jack TRS out too .
Finally,I'm using an Imac with Logic.

Thanks in advance for your precious advice,

You always need a sub. Two good reasons for this:

- The music you hear contains lower frequencies that only a sub could cover with the proper fidelity.

- The setting of your sub should be close to the wall, while the monitors away from it (see the recomendations from Genelec)

The sub is better to be one from the same company and for the proper size for your room (and the hearing distance). Even recordings of acoustic music sounds better with a sub. There are more good reasons of course :)
