Subwoofer choice for 8030

I have a pair of 8030's and i really want to get the subwoofer to complete the setup. Genelec reccommends that i get the 7050, but that's not really financially viable at the moment. If i were to get the 7040, would there be a noticeable difference or is it purely the volume that i can reach that would be affected? I never play my music particularly loud, i'd just like a bit more low end.

Thanks!

hmm,

one truism: at the end of the day you can usually get away with anything.

other truism: weight matters.

Personally, I'd hesitate to buy a lightweight 11kg sub.

But hey, if you don't need the volume...

I have a pair of 8030C's with a pair of 7040A's. It transforms each side into a three way speaker. Two subs also help even out room modes. Very impressive sounding considering size and cost.

I previously had a pair of M040's.  My stereo sub setup with the 8030's is noticeably better. Far superior soundstage and the dual subs add power and impact to the music.

I was thinking about buying a single 7050C, but I opted for dual 7040A's instead.
