Genelec 1030a vs M040

Hi all,

I have an opportunity to get the 1030a's for a decent price, right now I am using the M040's in my home studio.
Can anyone that has experience with the 1030a's give me their opinion on which monitor would be better ?
I know this is a matter of taste but I still see a lot of Pro level studios still using the 1030a's
Can't say the same thing about the M040's.
Thank you

1030 and 1031 are so common for historical reasons.
They were groundbreaking products when they came out.
Trusty workhorses but also fun to use. Not at all like NS10s.
And the market likes a bit of standardization too.

Can't help you with the decision whether you should switch though,
haven't heared them side-by-side.
I don't think there are dramatic differences. M40 has more bass extension.
I don't think a switch would be worth the hassle. something like 8341 is a meaningful upgrade.
