Interpreting 8350A GLM 4.0 AutoCal graphs
Being new to speaker calibration and GLM I'd like to get some feedback on my calibration graphs, 8350A 2.0 setup calibrated using latest GLM 4.0 beta.
The room is quite open, speakers placed 15cm from the wall, left speaker has open space on both sides (L-R) and right speaker is unfortunately located in a corner due to layout of the room. Listening position is opposite wall from the speakers, a sofa which is 20cm from the wall. Actual listening position distance to the wall is 50cm.
Listening distance is ~4m from the front of the speakers.
As I'm myself quite new to calibrating speakers I don't quite make that much out of the graphs (other than that low frequency had to be compensated quite a bit), any insightful comments on the graphs are welcome.
I would, and that's just my personal opinion, use a different layout for the speakers. Assuming the room is quite big enough to place one speaker right from the television I would move the currently left speaker there and align both speakers so, they will have a 60° angle towards the couch (see https://www.genelec.com/monitor-placement). Then you can connect you television and your DJ booth to them. The speakers are big enough to allow your mixing even with a few steps distance. In GLM you then can setup and measure two different groups, one for listening on the couch and one for DJing.
Actually the speakers are directly pointed towards the sofa/listening position, I took the picture while sitting on the sofa.
The thing you had marked on the suggested layout photo is actually just a detached footstool which is currently out of the way :)
TV is really just a 2nd class citizen here, that’s why sofa is facing the speakers and TV is on a wall-mount bracket on the right from the sofa ;)
