Can't decide between 8331 and 8441

Hello.

I have a small home studio in a professionally treated room.

The room is 5.3m long and 4.1m wide with 2.6m tall ceiling, it has music equipment inside (drums, guitar cabinets, etc...) so it's not a strictly mixing room.

As such it also has a non ideal position of the computer / monitoring station: I am sitting on the corner of the longer wall, 1 monitor would be ~50cm from the wall (side) and both would be ~30-40cm from the wall in their rear.

Listening position is 1m from the face of the monitors.

I don't need high volume, in fact I do my best to protect my hearing so the high overall power of the 8341 is not what makes me consider it, I am mostly concerned about the bottom end.
I am a bass player and I wish to get tight, full bass.

I like the small footprint of the 8331 and rather not spend extra on the 8341 if I don't have to but can afford either.

Appreciate your thoughts on the matter.

Thanks.

Can you demo either model in the actual room with your gear?

Like many others here, I've done several setups that come down to this same question.  If you want bass that goes all the way down you're better off with 8331s and a SAM sub vs just 8341s.  However, if your main concern is bass guitar playing with a tight response the 8341s handle E1 without a problem, but you will likely want a sub for B0 (if necessary).

Whatever you choose, budget an extra ~300 USD for the GLM kit.  It's worth every penny, especially with listening positions like yours.

Thanks!
Normally I could, during COVID when everything is closed in Israel that's a bit more complex.
Ideally I'd test a 41 vs 31 with and without a sub...

Hello John, I live in the USA and own the 8331's in Black. They are very powerful and the low end is amazing. There is 144 watts for each monitor. I spoke to someone at Genelec and the first question was the size of your room. Hope this helped.

You'll need a sub anyway, so it comes to the connections really; If one shared input for analog/digital is enough, at that distance and low levels 8341 becomes pointless.
