Connecting speakers when adding subwoofer to the setup

Quite basic question about connections. I have just bought subwoofer 7370A to complement my basic setup with existing 2 x 8250A main speakers. Dealer recommended to connect AV-source now directly first to subwoofer and then connect main speakers from subwoofer. In the sobwoofer I see long list of analog XLR IN/out connections. Can I basically choose whatever analog IN/OUT connections for the right/left cabling as there is no further hints in the documentation or in connectors itself to guide me further. Anything else I should take into account?
