8351A Placement as Center Channel

Hi,

I've recently taken the plunge on two 8351A's for use as L/R channels and absolutely in love with them. Originally I was going to limit the Genelecs for 2 channel music listening/mixing. But after having them in my controlled room I've decided to do a 5.0 setup with Genelecs, in addition to mixing, watch movies and game.

The surrounds will be the 8350A or 8050B, and placement there is straight forward. But the purpose of this whole thread is how I am supposed to place the 8351A as a center channel. Even in a horizontal orientation, it is almost 12 inches tall. My viewing monitor is a 55 inch TV, and I sit about 48-55 inches back. If I try to keep within a 15 degree angle of my listening position, that would mean positioning the TV way above the 8351A. This would result in a VERY high placed TV, and make viewing it rather uncomfortable. Am I better off simply mounting the center channel above the TV, and have a listening position relative to the speaker way beyond 15 degrees? Or any other recommendations?

Hi Kamb1ng

Adding another 8351A as your centre channel with the 8350A's / 8050B's as surrounds can you offer a view of the control room at present.
Have you found the 8351A's to be suitable at close proximity 48-55 inches to your TV and will the centre channel be placed at the same distance within your current setup.

I won't be able to post pictures until my replacement phone arrives. Having said that, the 8351A's are about 1.5-1.7 meters away from me. They sound exceptional at this distance. The plan to is place the the center channel at a similar distance as the L/R channels. Upon thinking about it, I am probably better off placing the center channel above the TV, even if I am a bit beyond the recommended 15 degree of elevation.

Hi,

Do you need to place the centre channel above the TV or is there room for the 8351A below the screen would you consider mounting the monitor horizontal to achieve a 15 degree listing position how will you calibrating the overall system.
