Hello! I've been using 8040's for years without sub, recently got a chance to test 7050 sub in my studio room (room is 15sqm and is treated well). And I really love the 8040+7050 combo, but I have read somewhere it is not a good match and can cause some problems.. do you think it is not a good match and I should better get 7060 for far better experience?

Thank you!

7050B is not a good match with other than 8020 or 8030 monitors because it lacks the high pass filters (bass management) for the output channels. The monitors must have the 85 Hz bass roll-off option for proper bass management. Of course it can play with for example 8040 models but the result will be several dB bass boost due to overlapping bass frequencies. If that sounded good to your ears, of course you can have that combination as well. :)

Thank you very much for your reply! I better try getting 7060 then to get more accurate sound :)

I have another question. I got 8330 monitors for a test, how good match are these with 7050 sub? I know I won't have advantages of autocal in this case for the sub, but is there something more what's not good about this combo?

Thank you!

They are having the same issue with the overlapping bass frequencies due to missing bass management filters. Of course the overlapping bandwidth will be little bit smaller due to lesser LF extension compared to 8040 but it is still quite considerable.
