Some questions regarding SAM 8330 + 7350

Hi everyone, I'm very interested in Genelec's SAM monitor line, and had a couple of questions. If anyone can answer some or all of these questions I'd be really thankful!

1. If I purchase a 2.1 SAM system (8330A, 7350A) without also purchasing the GLM management system at first, am I still able to use these monitors?

2. I've noticed the 7060 subwoofer has been phased out to only be available in the 7360 version now. I am curious if all 8000 series classic analog monitors are planned to be fully phased into SAM monitoring systems in the future (as to make a SAM monitor purchase now a future-proof investment)?

3. Why do 8340 + 8350 monitors have analog modeling options on the back of the speaker but not the 8330 + 8320 (same applies to the subwoofer 7360 + 7370 vs 7350)?

4. Do 8330s unadjusted sound the exact same as unadjusted 8030s?

5. Are 8330 / 8030 desktop monitor stands still in production (8000-401)? If so, where would I be able to purchase them online from the USA?

Thanks for reading! And again very appreciative of any responses!

Hi there,

Thanks for your questions! You might also want to contact our USA subsidiary at genelec.usa@genelec.com for local support.

1. The 8330A behave like analogue 8030 monitors without GLM so yes, you can play audio through them using analogue signal but you are not able to do any adjustments. Also, in order to integrate the subwoofer into the system, you will need the GLM software.

2. Unfortunately I cannot give an answer to this question.

3. It was a requirement that came up after we made the smaller models. Some people felt that they would like to use the monitors and the subs without the GLM so we provided them the user interface for that.

4. 8330s sound better due to improved DSP technology (filters, protection circuits etc) and new class D amplifiers. Drivers and enclosure are the same.

5. 8000-401 is a wall mount for 8000 series monitors. http://www.studiocare.com/genelec-8000- ... black.html
