Volume fluctuates with GLM2 and 9310A

Hi,

7260A + pair of 8240A, the volume level is fluctuating with 9310A volume control and GLM2 powered by usb adapter. The volume suddenly becomes weak and after you adapt the volume with 9310A there is a boost or 'waves' of volume back to normal, you reduce the volume with 9310A, volume fades again etc. Sometimes it works several weeks without any problem.

Rebooting GLM2 by powering off usb for a while has usually fixed it for a while.

GLM 2.1.0 Build 81 on Mac 10.9.5. GLM2 firmware 1.0.8.2040, 8240A firmware 8240A 2 0008 0070 0170 and 7260A firmware 7260A 1 0101 0116 0115. Signal path: optical out from Mac and Linux, optical audio switcher, Stello DP200 as SPDIF to AES/EBU converter.

Could it be a faulty 9310A volume controller, a bug in GLM2 or any other things to check?

Hi,

I would first suspect the physical volume controller. Can you just simply unplug it and see if the problem goes away?

You could also update your GLM software. You are running a few builds behind the latest version.
