Hi, Im in proccess of buying 8351 speakers for my living room, later I would buy sub for movies and music. Price for new 7360 or second hand 7270 are same, but what would you recomend me? Is 7360 enough, room is 4.5x4.5m, it is not too big.

7370 or 7270 are huge for living room, wife would kill me :D

but if 7360 is not enough (or two), than I have to consider about placement of bigger sub.

I would recommend getting either two 7360A or one 7370A.

Hi drsah,

just want to share my experience in a similar situation.

A pair of 8351 in a 20square meter room like yours can produce near sub woofer frequencies and enough SPL to get the typical physical feeling when watching movies. You simply have to uncheck the subwoofer in your DVDs setup and checkbox "5.1/ 7.1 downmix".

Then bypass GLM calibration (if GLM is part of your standard setup) when watching a movie to the get full frequency level from the 8351.

Not my intention to reduce Genelec revenue here but even a small subwoofer will make your wife cry regarding the room aesthetics :? and the subwoofer advantage compared to a stand alone 8351 setup might be insignificant because of the size of your room.

I have a pair of 8351 installed in a 19 qm room. its impressive how low and tightly deep the speaker goes and how well the lowest frequency levels responds to the room physics. The SPL is impressive too, you can feel it. As a reference movie for surround soundtrack try "pacific rim" blue rayy (Master HD audio)

anyway , enjoy your 8351 with or without a subwoofer- its an unparallaled Masterpiece

ok, thanks for reply. In case if buy sub later, can I run it analog, over xlr? I would use Mytek Brooklyn as control unit, and xlr out to 8351, and RCA or XLR (splitter) to sub?

7360A and 7370A subwoofers have both analog and digital AES/EBU inputs. Older 7260A and 7270A have only digital inputs
