I am using the 8040b monitors in my 2.0 setup.
I wish to add a subwoofer to it.
Room size 2500sqft.
I cannot afford 7060b. It cost 200,000 rupees in India .
Can I buy a subwoofer of any other brand ? Like Velodyne or svs?
Will 7050b would be small for my room/ speakers ? It costs 100,000 rupees.

Hi,

7060B is the first (most affordable) suitable subwoofer for the 8040B monitors. Unfortunately the 7050B is too small model and is also missing the required bass management filters. We don't recommend to use any other brand subwoofer than Genelec.

What's the reason ? Why shouldn't I buy a subwoofer of another brand ?
What if the other brand has high pass filter ?

We can not recommend other brands because we design our monitors and subwoofer to work as a system, meaning crossover frequencies, slopes, phase etc are designed and tuned so that the integration is the best possible. Getting some brand X subwoofer can yield in various, often not so good, results.
