Floor Stand for Genelec 8330

Hi,

Just purchased a Genelec 8000-403 Adjustable Floor Stand for my 8330 with stand plates equipped.
I was very surprised to find it a bit wobbly, while i was expecting anything Genelec branded to be rock solid.
Touching the monitor while on the stand with everything tightened creates slight horizontal wobble that settles down after a few seconds, so the stand is not what i would call "rigid".

The pluses for it are that it is very cheap and has a low footprint on the floor (the disc is only 25cm diameter).

However i was under the impression that non-rigid stands deteriorate audio quality as they can vibrate due to the speaker emitting vibrations itself.

So my questions are:
- is this wobbling typical for other installations of Genelec 8000-403 Adjustable Floor Stand + 8330 and stand plates? and
- in what way does this non-rigidness of the stand affect audio quality?

Thanks!

Hi,

The mass of the woofer cone that vibrates the enclosure is very tiny, only a few tens of grams, so it won't be able to move the whole enclosure + stand in any significant way. Additionally our Iso-Pod will help even further to reduce all kinds of vibrations transmitted to both directions. Your sound quality is not compromised. :)
