ISS not going into standby mode

I just purchased a brand new pair of M030. Manufacture date is 10/13 and 11/13. They have stopped going into standby mode. Is this something the running change made in 4/14 would correct?

And how can I identify date of manufacture from the serial number on the box so I don't have to open them to find out if I am buying a monitor manufactured after 4/14?

Thanks.

The running change was made in 2/2014 and it does not affect to the ISS power saving function.

I can search for the serial numbers if you let me know which letter and number there is after M030A? For example M030AM6

M030AM-2. Looks like when there is no signal attached, it will go into standby mode. But when a signal is attached it does not.

That would indicate that there is noise coming form the signal source or is being induced to the cables which then prevents the speaker from going into stand-by mode. Obviously there is a certain noise limit which is quite low.

Serial number needs to be higher than M030AM21004030 in order to be manufactured later than 2/2014.

Interesting. I have five of them in my possession. The highest serial number is 2834 and these were shipped to the vendors from Genelec USA in November of 2015. So clearly, Genelec doesn't think that it is a problem that needed fixing for those in the field.

I spoke with Genelec USA yesterday and the gentleman told me he's seen 0 come back for the problem that was mentioned here on the forum. So no need to worry?

Thanks.

Correct. There was no recall for these units.

In general there is no need to worry about a problem that hasn't manifested itself. :)

they just won't go into standby mode at all
even with all disconnected around them
they were purchased in Just Music Berlin
what can I do to get a proper unit since its still within the first 2 years of warranty?
thanks
this is quite nerve racking and I need monitors in order to work on a daily basis!

Hi,

You should contact Just Music Berlin in this case.
