Thank you for all the years of Community discussions and activity!

The time has come for us to retire the community forums, but we will keep everything available for reading. There is a lot of valuable content written over the years, and you'll be able to access all of that. However, no new posts can be written, or old posts modified.

If you have questions, we recommend you use the Support function on the bottom right corner to contact our Customer Support directly.

Alternatively, if you wish to engage in a community discussion with other people, there are many active forums available. There is also an active, fan managed GENELEC COMMUNITY in Facebook, and many Genelec employees are active in the discussions there.

We are sorry for any possible inconvenience this may cause you, but we hope to hear from you through the other channels mentioned above.

Hi everyone,

May I ask if the performance difference is big between these 2?

Thank you,

It is a very difficult question to answer, what is a big difference to some, others can barely hear, in my opinion, yes, the 8010 is clearly better than the old 6010.

I've owned the 8010A since July and I'm very impressed with them. I've owned a few decent monitors including PMC IB1's and ATC scm50asl's, and the little Genelec's are such good value for money and perform way above their size/price.
The 3 inch bass driver does struggle with bass heavy music above medium/loud levels when compared to speakers with larger bass drivers, but this can be helped by setting the bass contour dip switch to -2db, allowing much higher playback levels with minimal bass reduction. Paired with a sub, these are amazing full range speakers.

I haven't heard the 6010, but imagine the 8010 with improved bass driver and twice the amp power is better, plus it has XLR input which is better for pro use.
