Does GLM 2.0 over-ride ALL dip switch setting?

Howdy,

Question on 8351's (stereo) with GLM 2.0 running on a Mac -

1. When GLM is present, are *ALL* speaker dip-switch settings over-ridden?
2. When GLM is present, is the system-level Rotary Control over-ridden?

3. If the GLM is somehow powered off during use (e.g. in the middle of music), and the "stored" dip switch is OFF (e.g. manual control), do the dip-switch setting immediately apply? Or are they picked up on next power-on?
4. If the GLM is somehow powered off during use (e.g. in the middle of music), and the "stored" dip switch is ON (e.g. use previously stored parameters), do the stored setting immediately apply? Or are they picked up on next power-on?

Thanks!

When GLM is running all the dip switches are overridden, but here is the thing you need to understand.

The system has been designed so that it prioritises the audio over the control network, this is why Genelec designed a 2 cable solution, separating the audio from the control, this was a priority as if the network fell over the speakers would remain constant and work could still proceed.

1. When GLM is present, are *ALL* speaker dip-switch settings over-ridden?

Yes

2. When GLM is present, is the system-level Rotary Control over-ridden?

No, you will see that the fader graphic changes to the rotary control graphic

3. If the GLM is somehow powered off during use (e.g. in the middle of music), and the "stored" dip switch is OFF (e.g. manual control), do the dip-switch setting immediately apply? Or are they picked up on next power-on?

NO, the setings that were current from within GLM will remain until the network is re established, or if something terminal happened to the network, when you cycle the speakers power it will either use "Manual Control" or "Stored Settings" depending on the state of the dip switch

4. If the GLM is somehow powered off during use (e.g. in the middle of music), and the "stored" dip switch is ON (e.g. use previously stored parameters), do the stored setting immediately apply? Or are they picked up on next power-on?

See above. The system is designed so that if the network goes down, you wont even know, unless you go to change something. When the network is re established you will hear a momentary mute.

Hope this helps, any more questions just ask...

Hello again,

Great information - perfect. And I guess exactly what one should expect :-)

On question (2), I was referring to the system level rotary dials on the *back* of the speakers, on the 8351 I think it allows you to dial down from 0dB to -12dB. So, does GLM over-ride that as well?

Thanks!
