GLM 2.0 Trade-in Program

Since the launch of GLM 2.0 in autumn 2014 (Q4), many of our enthusiastic users have been waiting for the Mac OS X version of the product. A while ago we had a very fruitful on-line beta campaign during which we received invaluable feedback from the testers on the robustness and user-friendliness of the software.

We are now very delighted to inform you that we are expanding the GLM 2.0 User Kit compatibility to Mac environments.

The GLM 2.0 software provides the following improvements:

• Simple, intuitive, feature-rich monitor system configuration and calibration user interface.
• Group Definitions now include Input type – either analogue or digital.
• Separate Group calibration files
• Excellent in-room calibration results
• Wired and wireless volume control options
• Real-time SPL display

BACKWARD-FORWARD COMPATIBILITY AND PURCHASE OPTIONS

In concert with the GLM 2.0 release Genelec is offering a unique GLM 2.0 Trade-in Program for those customers who are currently running earlier GLM/GLM.SE 1.0 to 1.5 software versions. These users are invited to return their complete GLM/GLM.SE 1.0 to 1.5 User Kit, consisting of the Network Interface Device (types 8200-416 and 8200-416B) and measurement microphone (type 8200A) to their local authorized Genelec distributor. In exchange, they can purchase a completely new GLM 2.0 User Kit at a very reasonable discounted price.

1. For current GLM 2.0 User Kit owners
• The Mac OS X and PC Windows compatible versions of the software can be downloaded from the Genelec web site without further requirements: http://www.genelec.com/studio-monitors/ ... 0-software

Thanks Ilkka

Nice that the wait is finally over!
I find the terms very reasonable.

Clarification on 3

Do I understand it right, that we can trade up:

3. GLM 2.0 User Kit – “Trade-in #1”
• Order Code: 8300-602
• Recommended Retail Price: 170 €/unit excl. VAT
• For all the current GLM 1.x User Kit owners who have made their purchase before 31st of May 2014

Without the original receipt?
Many long time SAM supporters may have a hard time locating it.

Thanks

Hi Pete,

Yes that is correct. Ovbiously you don't need a receipt if you have made the purchase before 31st of May 2014.

Great! As I understand, the SE mac version will be incorporated in GLM 2 in the near future. This means I should upgrade my hardware through the trade-in programme now in anticipation, right?

Hello,

We will support the GLM SE software (both Mac and PC) soon in GLM 2.0, basically during Q3 2015. This means that all current GLM SE User Kit owners can then also take part in the Trade-in Program detailed below.

GLM SE Mac version will be supported by the GLM 2.0 Mac version soon.

I would encourage you to do the upgrade via the Trade-In program as soon as the GLM 2.0 is announced to support GLM SE. Today, it is not the case. So, to keep the SE system running, please wait for the announcement.

Best regards,

I've contacted the UK Genelec distributor and they are still waiting for details about this trade in program.

Their last email to me said they have pushed Genelec for information on this program and had nothing back.

Come on Genelec get your act together - please!

Here in Germany the Trade-In program is handled by AudioExport.
I contacted them by mail and they told me send my old kit and that they will start to deliver the replacement kits this Friday, i.e. 31st of July.
So i hope to receive mine next week...

In Australia, we're handling the update, Genelec provided all the details to distributors when the MAC GLM 2 release happened as they said they would. I can't understand why this happened, maybe the person you spoke to wasn't up to speed on the situation.

I'd love to post the email where they state they have heard nothing, but I wouldn't want that person to get into trouble.

I have three emails from the UK distributor saying they have no details. All a bit frustrating.

The UK distributor is due to call me later today - hopefully with some good news.

Update: I spoke a really nice person at the UK distributors and they are 100% clear they have had no information from Genelec. Very confusing.

Hi there,

I can confirm that all of our distributors have been informed about the trade-in program before we even announced it to public. Could you please state your contact at Source Distribution so that I can start digging out what is the root cause?

Thanks!

I have not dared trade in my last GLM 1 due to the many bugs over the last year.

Any chance you'll prolong the trade-in period?

Thanks

Hi, I bought the GLM2.0 kit in 2016 and my Genelec distributor told me the trade in offer was not available, so I had to pay full price. Is this normal?

Thanks.

Hi,

To my understanding the trade-in period was extended till the end of year 2016. Please have your distributor to contact Genelec if there is any misunderstanding here.

Hi Ilkka,

So this Trade-in Program is still active until end of this month?
