8330 Delay

I'm wondering if there is a small delay in the Genelec 8330 compared with the old 1030A. My estimation is it's about 2,52 ms. Is this posible or am I wrong?

Ok, I'll try again: Please, Mr. Genelec, can you confirm or deny if there is a small delay in the Genelec 8330 between input and output. I compared with the 1030 and my ear tell me there is a delay about 2,5 ms, ,but maybe I'm wrong.
Thank you.

Hi Bertl,

There is approximately 3ms delay due to internal DSP processing.

Hi Ilkka,
thanks for your reply. So I wasn't so wrong. The setup i found it out was that I wanted to use two 1030A as rear speakers in a 5.1 setup with 8330 as LCR speaker. I know this is not ideal, but as a cheaper solution than buying two more 8330 it worked pretty well.

Hi SirLennart,

it's not so complicated. As I said, I was comparing 1030 with 8330. One of them left the other right, white or pink noise, mono. After calibrating volume you can hear pretty well, when image is in the center, while you move the delay in one channel. But I'm sure there is a more cientific method of mesuring this :D

Just curious since i'm interested in 8330 or 8240: does this mean i will add 3 ms extra latency when composing with MIDI keyboard and virtual instruments?

8040b might be the way to go in that case?

Hi,

3ms delay won't cause any problems. It is equivalent to moving the speakers 1 meter further away from you. You won't notice that kind of delay in any kind of use/environment.
