Autocal 1.5 not working with Default Sound Card

Youngling Posts: 2 Join Date: 11/2/12 Recent Posts
I'm running OSX 10.9.5, with Genelec 8250's, using the 8200-415 GLM network interface. I downloaded GLM 1.5, and it is generally working fine. When I try to calibrate the room, however, I get problems:
I use the only option available to me;
- "AutoCal using Current Default Sound Card", but when I click OK, it says:
- "initializing the Genelec Sound Card, please wait" in green.
My network interface does not have a sound card, so it then says "No valid input selected. Please use microphone or line input (found from Recording Control).¥n". I click OK, and then nothing happens. I have tried using my RME Fireface UC, and the onboard Mac sound card, with the same results.
I then tried to install the old GLM software 1.4. It got a bit closer, in that it didn't try to initialize the Genelec Sound Card, and was using my default sound card, but then it gives me a network error, saying that it lost connection to the interface...

I've spent all evening working on this. Any advice?
Thanks!
Tom

Hi Tom,

Thank you for your in-depth fault analysis, it is very helpful. That is not a known problem so we will have to look into it. I will keep updated once we have a solution.

So, just to keep you up to date;
I used the hard drive from my old Mac Mini with OSX 10.7.5, GLM 1.4.3 and XQuartz 2.7.4 in my new computer. Everything ran perfectly, so it must be a software problem. Unfortunately, GLM 1.4.3 doesn't seem to work properly on OSX 1.9.3, which I am now running.
Has anyone had success using the older network interface (8200-416, not 8200-416b) with GLM 1.5?
Thanks!

I can confirm that i have this problem too. Running GLM 1.5.0 on a Mac Mini with 10.10.2 and 8250 with interface 8200-416. I get the same "No valid input selected. Please use microphone or line input (found from Recording Control).¥n" message. It would be great if this could be fixed as soon as possible.

lifeshine and sumosound,

Can you please state more information about your issue?

GLM version?
Speakers in use?
OS version?
Specific problem?

I've been having the same issue for months since updating to Mac OS 10.8.5 and trying to use GLM 1.5. To AutoCal I had to Install GLM 1.4.3, do the AutoCal, create the calibration file, Reinstall GLM 1.5 and use the GLM 1.4.3 created file. I cannot AutoCal using GLM 1.5 on a Mac Pro G5 with OS 10.8.5 using the internal sound card with a GLM 8200-416 network interface. I have exchanged emails with my Genelec Rep but he had no info. It looks like this is a very common problem. I surprised this hasn't been corrected. I will ask about it directly at NAB next week.

Hi,

That is correct, GLM 1.4.3 or 1.5 are not compatible with OS X 10.9 or 10.10. We recommend to use 10.8 (Mountain Lion) with it.
