8351 vs 8050

Hi !

How does the 8351 compare to the 8050 when using the analogue inputs ?
Is it much better than the 8050 ?

Can you give an indication of the pricing, and will there be an 8051 ?

I am using it for home use . . .

Regards,

J

Hallo Joachim,
i think you can't compare the 8351 easyly to the 8050. Even the 8250 is much better.
But with the superb koax of the 8260 it is worth a try!

Does the 8351 herald a new era of Genelec speakers?

Are we likely to see 8321s, 8331s and 8341s anytime soon?

I highly doubt it since they have just released the new 8320 and 8330, they aren't even in stores yet. I'd like to get a confirmation of this though since I'm about to buy a pair of 8330s next month..

That would be amazing. For me, the significance of the 8351 / 8351A nearfield monitors is that the frequency range is 32 Hz – 40 kHz (-6 dB). The 8260A midfield monitors have a frequency range of 23 Hz – 40 kHz (-6 dB), but I believe that processing is automatically applied on the input signal.

* price range ?

RRP (excluding VAT): 2560 EUR (unit price).

* 8351 herald a new era of Genelec speakers ?

It's an addition to our existing product range, although quite exceptional one.

* likely to see 8321s, 8331s and 8341s anytime soon ?

Unfortunately I am not able to disclose any information about future products.

* how do they compare to the 8050 ?

If you mean 8351, it's a totally different speaker. Technical details can be found from our web site. http://www.genelec.com/products/8351a/
