Hi,

as the description the Genelec Loudspeaker Manager GLM™ 2.0 is only aivailible for the 8300 Series monitors and 7300 Series Subwoofers

Does it works also with the 8260A?

Can you tell us more about the wireless volume controller?
"Volume control via GLM 2.0 software fader or external wired or wireless volume controllers"

thanks a lot

You did promise us a new redone GLM software for the 8200 series. Do you have a schedule for it yet?

I want to add the brand new 1237/1238A with GML 1.0 Manager to the question. Eagerly waiting for new software and remote control too

Hi all,

Current DSP products (82xx, 72xx, 12xx) are naturally fully supported in the GLM 2.0. :) New network adapter unit is required though, which will then also have support for the wired and wireless volume controls.

That's good news and bad news all in one. My set of GML unit and microphone is roughly two months old, you do not have an upgrade programme running, don't you? :P

Two further questions:
- Does Genelec still continue to support the old GML Software (e.g. Yosemite Upgrade, future OS Upgrades) and therefore users of the old unit can keep it running as long as they do not need the volume control?
- Do the "old" calibrated microphones fit the new GML units?

ahhhh, I just upgraded my GLM to the newer one to work with my new mac pro. Can i just upgrade again using a multi room expansion kit and keep my current microphone 100439? Or do i have to buy the whole kit again?

The long FAQ post in the other thread states:
Q: Will there be an expansion kit available in 2.0 for existing GLM 1.x owners who already have microphones?
A: No. There is one standard GLM 2.0 User Kit. This kit contains the GLM 2.0 measurement microphone.

No upgrade, no single units :?

Providing the fact that GLM 1.0 Microphones are (according to Ilkka) compatible with GLM 2.0 this seems to be a quite unfair commercial attitude !!!

Hi all,

We understand your frustration but there are clear reasons for this approach.

1) We have been able to reduce the cost of the measurement microphone which means it doesn't play a large role in the price of the complete GLM 2.0 kit. Therefore we will not continue to offer multiroom expansion package any more.

2) We have been able to reduce the cost of the complete GLM 2.0 kit compared to 1.0 kit by ~35% which means its price will be closer to the cost of the multiroom expansion package to start with.

I don´t get this at all!

So i bought my GLM kit this winter (along with my Genelec 8240's) with a microphone and the network adapter for about €800. I also but a Powermate and a ShuttleXpress to try to control it as recommended in these forums. All in all around €3500.

The GLM software never worked so I clearly need to upgrade.

You are saying that I need to

1. Throw away my now obsolete GLM system I bought for €800 (both the microphone and the network adapter)?
2. Buy a completely new GLM kit with a new microphone and a new network adapter? (costing exactly?)
3. Repurpose my old ShuttleXpress and my Powermate?
4. Buy new wireless controllers?
5. Get the new GLM 2.0 software for free?

It feels like you are ripping me off here. I mean the product I bought (the GLM software 1.X) never worked really good and now you are fixing this with releasing a new software that no longer supports the hardware I just bought?

I just want to understand what is going on here. Is this really true?

Okey, that sounds good. But I want to get one thing completely clear because it still seems a bit unbelievable:

You are saying that I am forced to buy a completely new GLM kit with a new network adapter AND a new microphone? I mean the €800 GLM kit I bought in January never really worked very good but I of course expected you to this fix it with a free software update. I should just throw my old GLM kit in the bin or or be confined to use old versions of MAC OS X (and therefore old versions of all my other software) along with your not very well working GLM 1.X?

I understand the economic perspective of the company having a reduced product range.

Out of a customer perspective, things are a bit different: we bought GML unit and hardware for about 800 EUR, just a couple of weeks or months ago. I agree with you that 520 EUR is a good value for the new unit including microphone, still for us, it is an 800 EUR loss (or additional costs of 520 EUR therefore a total of 1300 EUR for the system).
The old extension units accounted for 300 EUR, better than 520 EUR, still quite an amount (we could buy a nice pair of entry Genelecs instead ;) ).

The Genelec 1.5 Software has its flaws, I believe most of us are eagerly waiting for a better software. The current software does not meet the high standards set by Genelec monitors. Staying with the old GML 1.5 is not an option for long, I doubt that you will continue to support the software over the next couple of years for all upcoming operating systems. And naturally, we are stuck with the old software, without the necessary improvements.
I did not expect that my freshly bought hardware would be unusable with the next software upgrade.

I believe Genelec could afford running an upgrade program for customers who recently purchased the old GML-sets. This must not necessarily be a free program, you could provide an exchange of the units (without microphones) at manufacturing costs which should bring the price down to a reasonable amount.

I know this might be a stretch but would genelec consider a trade in vale for the old GLM kits?
These kits are very specialised and hard to sell where as Genelec might be able to repurpose/recycle them.

They will be close to impossible to sell as soon as word spreads that they do not work with the new software

Which wireless Controll will fit the GLM 2.0?
Is the Griffin bluetooth the right thing? Will it connect direct to the GLM?

We will have a new Genelec wireless controller for sale as an option which will be supported by the GLM 2.0. A wired controlled will be included in each 8320 or 8330 bundle package as a default (edited).

We will have a new Genelec wireless controller for sale as an option which will be supported by the GLM 2.0. A wired controlled will be included in each package as a default.

Just buy pair of 8351a + Loudspeaker Manager Adapter Kit (8300-601) and there are no wired volume control inside the package.

My system is Windows 7 x64 ultimate
Now questions about GLM 2.0.1 software and of course bugs:
1. when minimize window width error occurred (GLM 2.0.1 bug_1). Why there are no future to just display only volume control in application like it was in ver.1?
2. when try to lunch setup file in example Sofa (GLM 2.0.1 bug_2-1) second window lunched but still not response. In GLM ver.1 in works like you Open setup file.
3. Sometimes after shutting down Windows and then power on PC GLM software don't see any speakers even in GLM soft "Adapter: Connected". Application relunch don't help, just need unplug usb cable and then plug in. How can I work normaly if need to fisicly plug/unlug interface??? GLM interface ver.1 works normaly in the same pc (of course now ver.1 interface not connect to this pc). So what's going on?
4. Why the minimize button is hidden and i can't minize GLM application?
5. what is the short keys for mute, set volume preset, call group, load preset file, volume control like it was in ver.1. How to control volume and group selection from system globally like it was in ver.1 usinig GLM Autolink???
6. where is the video delay setting? Now I should calculate manually and add delay to speaker delay or how?
7. there are some delay when I change volume from glm soft using mouse in v1 in was in real time now when I do it fast it's like "whooom.. whom"
8. why volume control when glm is active window don't response for mouse wheel? in v.1 it's work
9. if one of two button "preset level" is pushed so after relunch GLM I need press it twice to unhold button.

The things I like in v2:
easy setup process,
windows can shutdown by it self (no need to shutdown glm application manually first like in v.1) - it's a magic ;) ,
and auto measurement finally works on my PC (in v.1 I can't run automeasurement even after reinstall windows. So was need to calibrate system using laptop)! Fantastic software :x !

Too many question for new GLM 2 soft. Very raw version. Looks like beta version not v.2 IMHO v2 is worth compare to v.1 in every day usage.
So, the story repeat:
Genelec made great monitors but software still buggy and not professional!

Hello PopDV,

Thank you for your detailed report and feedback, and sorry that you had some many problems with our new software. I am happy to let you know that we are releasing a new 2.0.2 version this week where many of the features you listed will be implemented and updated. Please see a more detailed list below. Please let us know your comments about the new version.

Just buy pair of 8351a + Loudspeaker Manager Adapter Kit (8300-601) and there are no wired volume control inside the package.

This was a misunderstanding from my end. The wired volume controlled will be included only inside the 8320 and 8330 BUNDLE packages.

the problem #3 "Sometimes after shutting down Windows and then power on PC GLM software don't see any speakers ..." still actual now about 9 times adapter don't see speakers and 1 time see after power on.
Try connect to laptop - adapter works good.
Do you have any idea why it's happened?
Waiting for new 2.0.3 release with added futures

Hi,

It is most probably related to the adapter firmware. We are releasing an update tool and new firmware within the following weeks.
