Mounting M040s on desk - please help?

Hi there!

I recently purchased a set of M040s, and based on the advice provided by the Genelec Support Team in this thread here - viewtopic.php?f=4&t=976&start=10 - I also purchased two of the M series isopads and two small desk stands.

Anyway, I'm wondering, how exactly am I supposed to set these up? In most pictures I've seen, the steel plate of the isopad is sitting directly under the speaker, i.e. with the steel touching the speaker, like this: ... 232246.JPG

However it's obviously not possible to mount the speakers to the stand that way. This is the only way I've worked out how to do it:

This seems to be incorrect. Is the speaker supposed to be sitting directly on the foam? And is the nut of the screw supposed to dig into the foam underneath? Surely not. But if not how the heck is this supposed to work? This seems like a really low rent solution for some very pricey speakers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, ... 232246.JPG

This is indeed the proper way to use the Iso-Pad stand if your speakers are placed on a table or other similar flat surface.

But if you are using a table stand, the metal plate should be fixed to it directly and the speaker should be placed on it without the foam pads, as you don't require the tilt function any more because the table stand is already raising up the speaker and therefore directing it better to your ears. The small lip on the metal plate should go on the back side of the speaker.

Hope this helps! :)
