GLM freezes frequently in Mac OS 10.8.5

My GLM freezes several times a day on my Mac (OS 10.8.5).
It resumes working by unplugging/plugging in the USB cable from the control unit and restarting the GLM application thereafter.
Also, I am not able to run the calibration any longer, it seems missing X11 is the problem.
Can you provide assistance on how to resolve these two issues?

P.S. I would like to re-calibrate because my desk top crashed -- I mean the my physical desk top table -- and my 8240A's suffered a drop of half a meter. They survived it perfectly -- kudos for build quality!
In my new rig they are positioned slightly differently and I would like to recalibrate.

Hi,

You should install 2.7.2 or newer X11 from Xquartz: http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki/Releases

Check /Applications/Utilities/ for any other installed X11 versions and uninstall them.

Let me know if it doesn't solve your problems.

In the meanwhile I updated my Mac OS to 10.9.1 and the GLM works even less: it stays active only a few minutes at the time.

As I want to be overly cautious about this I want to double check on the X11 uninstall.
I Googled uninstall directions and Mac forum (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/600991) guides to
a) remove X11 from Utilities folder to Trash
b) use the terminal to issue the following commend: sudo rm -rf /etc/X11/ /usr/X11R6/

I can't do a) because the system says X11 is used by the OS.
I am reluctant to do the terminal command until I get a confirmation from Genelec folks/forum to OK this -- I really do not want to mess up my rig.

Unfortunately I am not a Mac expert but according to the Mac forum, it should be safe to use the terminal command.
