8250A 5.1 setup, GLM can't find them all?

Hi there. Our studio has a 5.1 setup consisting of 5 x 8250A's, and a 7270A sub.

On the first screen of the GLM software where it counts the speakers, it constantly changes between 5 speakers and 1 sub, down to 0 and 0, back up to 2 and 1, 3 and 1, randomly etc...shouldn't it simply settle on 5.1?

I've tried new USB cables, different network cables, rebooting, etc. Is it possible the GLM Network Interface is broken? The power light stays solid when plugged in, and the network light appears normal, it lights to indicate network activity.

We've tried the GLM software on Mac OS 10.8.4, and on Windows XP. Same result. Yet, it worked at least once in the past, because we were able to calibrate our speakers when we first bought them, that was years ago though.

I've now tried connecting one of the 8250A's to the GLM network interface, same thing, it can't find it. Also tried the subwoofer by itself, and that doesn't work either.

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

It does indeed indicate that the network interface is broken. Do you have a dealer close to you which could perhaps loan you an unit to try out?

Hi there, thanks for the reply, and sorry I never replied until now.

We contacted our supplier and sent them the GLM interface for repair, but they said this part isn't made anymore, and they weren't able to fix it. (Which doesn't surprise me, it's about ten years old now I think).

They returned the broken interface to us, so we're going to try it again with another computer (like a laptop), just in case. It's very strange that it would be broken though, because we've only used it a few times over the years.

Not sure what else to do...the whole setup kinda depends on this little box. Thanks for any more ideas.

Hi,

If your GLM set is ten years old, it is true that the original interface isn't available any more, but it has been replaced with a new version. The new version works with the same microphone so you don't need to buy that if the old one is working ok. We sell the interface only package with a "Multiroom expansion package" name, order code 8200-602. Please ask you dealer to order this for you.

Hi again. We've finally received our new GLM interface today, it took about a month. We have tried configuring our speakers. But we're having the same issue as detailed in my first post:

The first screen of the GLM software where it counts the speakers, it constantly changes between 5 speakers and 1 sub, down to 0 and 0, back up to 2 and 1, 3 and 1, randomly.

We've tried the GLM software and new interface with Mac OS X and Windows, and it's the same result.

I've filled out the tech support form on the Genelec web site and pressed Submit, but it then loaded a blank page, so I have no confirmation whether my message will be received or not.

Please help.
