GLM - Sync Pulse Level issues

Dear all,

I've just got the GLM to use with my pair of 8240As. I've wired it all up, ran the system setup wizard and everything was going really well until I started the Acoustical setup Wizard... When I clicked the "P" button to start the measuring, after the sine sweep I get an info message saying "The Sync Pulse Level too high!" and a pop up comes up saying " The recorded signal is too low! Check the microphone is connected. Do you want to sweep again?"
I went to my mac sound preferences, checked that the mic is reading and the error still persists!... Can anybody please let me know how to deal with this issue??

Help please!!!!

Regards

Hi,

Which OS X version are you using? Are you using the Genelec sound card (inside the GLM interface) or something else?

Hi Ilkka,

I am using the OS X 10.8.4 (12E55) Macbook Pro Retina. The GLM version I've got I believe to be the "old" one - with the "all black" network interface box (as far as I'm aware it doesn't have any in-built sound card). When I connect everything I can't see any "new" sound devices apart from External Microphone. This under: system preferences > Sound > Input.

It's strange because when I bring the autocal up I can still generate the sweep... but nothing after that apart from the issues mentioned on my previous post.

I am using the iRig connector for the Mic connection from the GLM Interface in to the computer as the Macbook Retina doesn't have a dedicated Mic Input. Would this make any difference? I've noticed the mini jack plug from the mic is a stereo one and the iRig I suppose it supports a regular mono jack from a guitar lead. Although I am using a stereo converter from mini to standard sized jack...

Can you please shed some light on this?!! I am very confused... and lost!!

Many thanks
Ric

Not sure why the iRig thing, there should be a microphone jack in the GLM interface? And, the GLM interface never shows up in the system preferences, and it doesn't matter as you start the GLM software and it all goes from in there.

Hi Maximilian,

Thank you vey much for your reply.
The iRig is used to connect the GLM Network Interface MIC OUT to the Macbook Pro MIC IN - as per Connection Guide on GLM (I have the older version - all black GLM Network Interface box).
I have the Macbook Pro Retina and there is no MIC IN... so I thought my only solution would be using the iRig - which splits the IN/OUT signals. Now, the Genelec mic has a stereo mini jack plug but the iRig is based on the guitar mono jack input so I don't know whether or not my problem resides in the fact that I am trying to plug a stereo jack in to a mono input... I don't know... :( I'm just running out of options...
Is there anybody out there running the GLM (Older version) on a Macbook Pro Retina??
Every time I run Autocall I get this strange message (after the sweep) saying "The Sync Pulse Level too high!" and a popup message comes up saying " The recorded signal is too low! Check the microphone is connected. Do you want to sweep again?" If I click yes: it does it all again! If I click no: it just shuts the widow!

Help please!!!!

I think it is time for you to buy a new GLM interface, getting a clean signal from your mic into the software was one of the main reasons Genelec incorporated their own soundcard into the V2 interface. Most laptops have some filtering on the mic inputs that can't be disabled. We have a few clients still using the original interface, but they are using old winXP laptops.

Hi Steve,
Thank you for your reply. I completely understand your point. Makes sense. However it's quite frustrating for me as I've just spent the money on this GLM ( less then 3 weeks) and now I'm coming to the conclusion that this purchases might have been in vain... :|
Can you please let me know if there is any possibility for me to purchase just the V2 network interface/sound card independently? As I have all the rest, it doesn't make sense to me having to buy the whole GLM package again...

Best regards
Ricardo

Hi Ricardo,

You should buy GLM Multiroom Expansion Package (order no. 8200-602) which includes only the interface and USB cable. :) It is much more affordable than the full GLM package.

I'm getting this same problem with OSX 10.9.5, XQuartz-2.7.7 and GLM 1.5 on MacBookPro Retina 15" late 2014 !?? I'm using GLM full package (has stamp "version 1.4.x")
