Need Serivce in Asia for 8030a

I am currently in Taiwan for freelance production work and I had a pair of 8030a's sent from the States with UPS.

UPS did a horrible job in packaging after being examin by the customs and now one of the monitor has some issues with the woofer, and I believe something broke inside. :evil:

I need to get it serviced and was wondering where I can get it done in Taiwan.

I love the Gennies but I am so mad at UPS!!!!!!!!!


Also I just can't find the service center on Genelec's website for Asia... wish I was back in the US right now =(

Hi Ilkka,

Thank you for your quick reply.

The service guy at Advancetek told me the housing for one of the woofers has shattered.

He suggest that he can either solder the housing or order new parts.

I am afraid that might change the frequency response either or.

What do you suggest is the best option?

I'm feeling so sad right now.

The woofer housing/frame shouldn't ever be fixed by soldering. Your speaker needs a new woofer. It won't change the frequency response.

Yea I told them that will not do, but they said they are using industrial glue to put the housing together and told me to try it.

Well, I got them today and the problem is still there, obviously. The worse part is they don't even have the proper tools to analyze the frequency spectrum.

I might just tell them to order new woofers for both, and put them together...

what precautions should they be aware of when putting them together? I feel that they might even screw that one up.... :oops:

Hi Ilkka,

Thank you very much for your help. Anne T. has helped me throughout this process and I had successfully install the new woofers few days ago.

It was pretty easy and your customer support is great. There's a big difference in frequency response!!!

It took Advancetek a month and a half to finally get the new woofers.

I have to say the instructions were clear and I love every bit of the gennies in my studio, and after been using the 1020a previously.

I will definitely buy more in the future =)
