Musikmesse 2013: 8260s shown with subwoofer?

Dear Genelec Team,

browsing through the Musikmesse photos, I was surprised to see the 8260a's being demonstrated with a 7270a subwoofer. As the 8260a's are advertised as a full range system, is implementing a subwoofer still having a significant impact to the sound? What is your point of view on listening to 8260s with or without a subwoofer?

Thanks and regards from Australia,

Ulrich Maximilian

I have tried my 8260's (just the stereo setup) with and without my 7271A sub, and in my living room it makes no difference. Bass is tight and linear both ways.

Now, if I had to do it over, I would have exchanged my monster 7271A for two 7260's - one in each front corner.
Would I have benefitted and used the subs in stereo setup? Well that remains to be seen ;-)

Hi,

The 8260A is a full range speaker but adding a subwoofer will help if you need high SPL, especially in large control rooms with a lot of LF absorption.
