Other than the inputs what sets this monitor apart from the 8040a ?

Does it have superior internal parts making it more accurate ?

Or is the inputs what make it more accurate ?

Regards John.

Hi

- Room correction using GLM and the build in DSP
- Time alignment for sub and surround setups
- Build in DAC up to 24/192
- Losselss signal cables at low price
- Optimum SUB integration with flexible X-over freq.

I think that is quite significant differences and advantages.

Thanks for the reply Pete, ill look into those pointers.

Happy user of the 8030a using logic 9 in 32bit mode , but when i move into a bigger room next year id like the extra power and improvement in frequency response (i heard the 8030 & 8040 side by side before purchase) and was wondering if i would benefit from saving the pennies and buying 8240a.

Kind Regards, John.

Well, John

I came from a standard analogue turntable driven audiophile setup.

I got so exited once I started down the digital/DSP/room correction route, I just went all in!
This is something you will have to try for yourself, but watch out - you just might get the bug.
I have found nothing that compares with the 8200 series anywhere at the price point.

People often tell me the 8200 series is expensive with the extra expense of the GLM and everything.
Then they come and listen to my (living room) setup and walk away thinking it's a bargain.

Just my 2 cents

I would like to ask a question about these DSP speakers, maybe clear for others but not so obvious for me :)

If a room correction is set and stored with the speakers and I need to use the analog input for a particular task, would it still have the room calibration applied or the speakers would only function without them?

Thank you in advance.

Yes, DSP is applied to all inputs.
Analogue inputs are converted to digital before DSP is applied, so only use analogue inputs from analogue sources and not DAC's.
