2 Sources into 1 pair of Genelec 8020b

Hey,
Stupid question time. I have just purchased Genelec 8020b & RME Fireface soundcard to use with MacBook Pro. I want to use these for music writing, but also want to use the Gene's as normal speakers - the sounds too good not to!

The Mrs doesn't like too much technology (i.e. she doesn't want to touch soundcard) so at the mo I have xlr to 3.5mm cable to plug in iPod/ computer for normal listening and xlr - trs cables for audio work going through the Fireface. How can I avoid changing the cables over each time? I can't imagine this will do the Gene's any favours in the long run. I heard you can't just use a Y-adaptor for TRS to 3.5mm. Do I need a mixer or is there another way? :?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Have you thought about connecting a 3.5mm to XLR/jack cable to one of RME's inputs for the second source use?
