Alternatively, if you wish to engage in a community discussion with other people, there are many active forums available. There is also an active, fan managed GENELEC COMMUNITY in Facebook, and many Genelec employees are active in the discussions there.

8200 series wish list

I do love my 8260's 5.1 surround rig to death, but the room could do with some improvements.

Can Genelec help me measure the room so I have a good knowledge base before and under improvements?
I have purchased all the necessary hardware in the GLM package including calibrated mic and pro sound card.
My wish list is short but high impact and all software:

- Waterfall plots
- RT60 plots

The Frequency Response plot under the Interactive Response Editor is good for starters, but rather 2D for this type of work.

It's a one time effort that will benefit a lot of people!

Alternatively, is there a way to use the hardware with 3rd party software?

Thanks

Hi Pete,

The best software to use would be REW (room eq wizard)

You can download it for free from http://www.hometheatershack.com You will need to register to gain access to the software download.

You can use the GLM mic, from memory there is a way to use the cal file for the mic within REW, but i'm a bit hazy on the details now. The only thing i can't help you with is what interface to use, your pc sound card maybe useful.

Thanks.

It would however be a great service, if Genelec decided to help us make the most of the hardware we already payed a lot of money for in the GLM package.

Hey Pete,

Thank you for your wish list. We will consider adding the features you mention when we are doing the next big GLM update.

The GLM package (interface, microphone, software) is designed to work with Genelec DSP series speakers. It is not possible to use the hardware with 3rd party software.
