8020b or 6010a/5040a combo

Hi,

Anyone familiar with these monitors here?

Last year I got the Genelec 6010a for (space saving) desktop monitoring/general use. But it now seems like its lacking compared to (cheap Audioengines) what I used before when playing back source material.

Should I just get the 8020b instead or add the 5040a sub to the 6010a?

Clients (vocalists mainly) may not notice this, but what would you do in my situation?

Hi,

It depends what you feel the current 6010As are lacking? If it's mainly bass frequencies, then for sure a subwoofer will help. If it's more related to midrange frequencies, then moving up to larger speakers will improve the sound quality.

How come I never tried the -6db bass tilt setting? it's changed everything. The bass seemed to have come out of hiding. This monitors really sound good considering its compact size. It's shocking how a small switch at the back could transform the overall sound. Now, I don't think I need the sub or the 8020b.
