8020B - Unclear sound

Hi there,

I have just bought some Genelec 8020Bs and am connecting it to my macbook pro through xlr-1/4inch jack cable with headphone jack adapter. The sound is far from great. I am unsure whether or not this is because I'm using a jack adapter and it distorts the sound or if it's the speaker. Should I be plugging it through an external audio interface prior to laptop connection or should it play clearly enough just by connecting straight from speaker to laptop via xlr-jack cable?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I'm not sure what kind of cable you are using, but I recommend a 1/8" jack to stereo XLR, like the one here: http://www.amazon.com/HOSA-STEREO-3-5mm ... B000068OEP.
