GLM.SE+SE7261A Sub & 8240A Spkrs - will they work together?

Sorry if something was written already about this - I didn't find however :(
The question is as above: Will the GLM.SE system/software and SE7261A subwoofer work correctly with a pair of 8240A speakers? Or strictly with 8130A?
Thank you!

From a thread in the general forum:

"You are correct about the GLM, the 8240's require GLM and not the .SE version"

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=543

Sorry :-) On the other hand, the full version isn't a lot more expensive.

Thanks :) The full version sub is a bit more expensive :D
May be I didn't catch the idea, but on the Genelec site I'd found only one restriction: The GLM.SE™ software is designed to work solely with the SE7261A DSP Subwoofer and vice versa. No such words about speakers (of course they should be DSP).
I just want the speakers to be a bit larger than 8130A. The sub is quite enough for my room.

The SE software is only for that sub and nothing else. The sub also handles the DSPing for the 8130A speakers through the SE software.

For the 82xx range of speakers you need the full GLM set. If you were to mix that sub with those speakers I guess you would have to use the GLM.SE software (+ hardware) for the sub and at the same time the GLM software (+ hardware) for the speakers. Since the GLM.SE set itself costs around 550 Euro I think you are better off saving that money and buying a matching subwoofer for your 82xx speakers instead.

For multichannel the 8240 would work best with the 7270A I think but if you don't need maximum SPL you can get away with the 7260A as well. In Germany the 7260A is only 2000 Euro while the SE Sub is around 2800 Euro so you would not only save those 550 Euro for the SE GLM set but also the 800. If you wanna invest both that into a better sub you could get the 7270 which runs for 2800 Euro in Germany and still be off cheaper than with your idea :)

Hachre Strangely, but here 7260A is slightly more expensive than the SE version of the sub. Anyway, it appears that you're generally right in your calculations, provided I really had to buy both versions of GLM :D
Shall go for the tape ruler to measure my room once more

Hey,

The GLM.SE system is a dedicated system which works ONLY with SE7261A subwoofer and (max 8 units) 8130A speakers. Also you need to have the subwoofer in the system in order to utilize the DSP functions. If you don't have the subwooer, the speakers work as analog 8030A speakers.

Thanks :)
Finally I've stopped on 8240A + 7260 + GLM (full) combination.
Only one question remains: if I'd buy new speaker system for another location (and it will happen one day) and this system is an SE (SE7261 + 8130A) should I buy a complete GLM.SE package (hardware + software) or a software only? It appears to me that the hardware parts of GLM and GLM.SE are the same and only the software differs. Am I correct?

Hey,

Yes, you are correct! :) The interface and microphone are identical. Just download the GLM.SE software from here: http://www.community.genelec.com/software/
