kind of flush mounted system with 1031a

Hi,
I'm using 1031A speakers for monitoring (for recording/mixing). We've recently changed the setting of the room ; we positionned the pair of 1031A at about 2m in height, respecting the angle of 60° (equilateral triangle with the listenning spot), against the front wall, and adjusting the built-in filters. The frequency response is quite good, but we feel that the tone is nasal. Adjusting the built-in filters doesn't solve the problem. In comparison with the near-field listenning system (1030A speakers), this difference is evident.

The question is : can we solve this problem by building a kind of flush mounted monitoring system ? maybe by placing a rigid and large screen around each speaker ? This system may resolve potential reflections with the room. What's your opinion ?

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Indeed flush mounting the speakers would improve the sound quality but the flush mounting can not be done by building a screen around the speakers. Please see detailed instructions here.

Have you tried pulling the speakers away from the back wall? Usually even 0,5 m - 1 m is enough for a clear improvement.

Hi Ilkka Rissanen,

Thank you very much for your advice. We've tried to apply the right distance for loudspeakers. Actually, we notice now an improvement in the frequency response ; for a certain position of the loudspeakers, the response is better, but since we are limited regarding the space we have in the room, we still have a lack of energy in the band below 300 Hz, even if now, this band is flat. We'll continue to adjust the position of the pair 1031A in the room.
Thank you for your advice.

Best regards.
