Amplifiers Specs.

I would like to ask, whether are there more detailed specifications of the amplifiers, used in your studio monitors and installation loudspeakers, available, meaning e.g. Frequency response, Slew rate, Rise time etc.; eventually even measurements' graphs of them.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Rasto,

Unfortunately we don't provide that kind of detailed specifications or measurements. Having said that, I can confirm that all the specifications are good enough in order not to degrade the sound quality of the complete product i.e. an active speaker.

Hi Ilkka,

I am sorry to hear that, since I believe that the graphs would not look ugly.
I believe, that the amplifier also determines the quality of the reproduction and thus, it would be fair these infos to be published.

Can you, please, at least confirm that all of your powered speakers are equipped with AB class amps?

We strongly believe that the quality of the reproduction is determined by the complete system i.e. mechanical and acoustical design, drivers, crossovers, amplifiers etc. instead of any single component. Therefore we provide detailed technical specifications and also performance data for this complete package.

Please see this document as an example.

And yes, at the moment all of our powered main speakers are equipped with class AB amplifiers. One subwoofer has class D amplifier.

Hi Ilkka,

What did you mean when said "main" speakers (about class AB)? So what about nearfield (8040)? :?:

Hi,

I tried to say 'all speakers' i.e. excluding subwoofers. Sorry about the confusion.

Thanks for answer! :D I'm very happy with my 8040s and have interested how it sounds so clean at very high SPL! Good job Genelec!

Gentlemen, for every advantage of a given technology, there must be a disadvantage. I am a proud owner and supporter of active speakers, but there must be a downside? I am in the business (the sales side) and have heard -- and sold -- other active speakers that while the technology is presumably all there, the speakers just don't sound good.
1. Interference between amp and driver?
2. Cabinet resonance from amp?
3. Heat from Class A/B amp?

Any presumptions, facts or support? Or, please confirm that I am, in fact, incorrect in my assumptions. Prove me wrong, I'm all for it!

Cheers!
