5040a Sub disconection...

Youngling Posts: 9 Join Date: 8/11/10 Recent Posts
Hi
I have recently purchased the 6010a/5040a combination and am very pleased!
If I turn the power for the sub off, I cannot hear any sound through the 6010a.
I am running everything through Apogee Duet/i Mac. I'm guessing its a routing software fix?
Or maybe something to do with the remote control that the sub comes with....

Any answers would be appreciated.
Cheers

Hello Andrew,

The 5040A comes with an integrated bass manager which means that the signals for the mains speakers are routed and filtered through and in the subwoofer. Therefore if you switch off the subwoofer, the signals to the main speakers won't pass through anymore. The 5040A doesn't have a bypass switch for the subwoofer, so unfortunately you can not bypass the subwoofer easily. One solution would be to use an external bass manager (like found in all AV receivers) which would allow you to bypass the subwoofer.

7060B and larger subwoofer models from Genelec have a bypass (jack) switch for the subwoofer.
