Looking into adding a sub.

I'm considering adding the 7260A to my 8240 setup but I have some space considerations. The only place they would fit properly would be under the bottom shelf of my stereo stand (which has a little over 18" of clearance). The only way they would fit is on their side. Will they function properly on their side?

Hello,

The subwoofer will work very nicely on its side, but as the reflex port opening is on the side, it needs some additional clearance to breathe properly. What is the exact height of the space you have? Is it an open or closed shelf?

Darn, it's open on all sides but it's only 18 1/2 " so I don't think that will work.

If it's open to all sides, then 18 1/2" is enough since the port can breath towards the bottom end of the enclosure (normal orientation). Hopefully your stereo stand ifs sturdy enough because of the high energy low frequencies the subwoofer produces. Otherwise you might get all sorts of vibrations and noises.
