8030a/6010a/7050a 5.1 setup

Hi,
I have two 8030a's and want to go to 5.1 out of my protools LE.
Because of funds I am unable to go the whole hog and get another 3 8030a's so I was going to get another 8030a for the centre and two 6010's for the rears all fed by the 7050a. Can you forsee any problems with this setup please?

Many thanks

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply.

I can foresee at least one problem. The 7050A (if you truly meant A, and not B?) has only two channels so you can't use its bass management for 5.1 channels. 6010A's will work as rears as long as you notice that their gain is 10 dB lower compared to 8030A.

If you meant the 7050B, then the setup would work relative well. The only problem is that the 7050B has only low pass filters, not high pass filters for routed channels. But luckily 8020A/B's and 8030A's have built-in high pass filters which can be activated by enabling the DIP 2. The 6010A don't have it but they would work relatively well as rears even without it.

For proper 5.1 bass management you would have to get 7060B or larger subwoofer.
