Do standard speaker stands not work????

Like I've said on a couple of other posts, my 8240 are on order and while I wait for delivery I'm getting everything I will need to set up ready. I just assumed that a standard speaker stand would work and I've just heard from a friend that I need to be able to attach/bolt the isopod to the the stand. Is that right and does that mean I will be forced to buy a genelec stand (which won't actually work very well for me because I'm placing it on carpet and need a spiked stand).

Hello,

Thanks for your purchase of our DSP systems.

Since the 8240A feature our IsoPod stand, we have designed special adapter plates that will fit on any standard stand which has a 3/8" thread. See our accessories catalogue on page 6 for further details:
http://www.genelec.com/documents/catalo ... ochure.pdf

Alternatively, you can place the 8240A together with its IsoPod stand on any speaker stand that has an upper plate large enough onto which the IsoPod will fit. That is not a problem at all.

Best regards,

Or (as I did) you can blu-tack the ISOpod metal plate onto the top plate of your domestic (spiked) speaker stands, if the original top plate of the stand is too small for the ISOPod feet. In fact, even if the plate is large enough, I've found that the dedicated ISOpod metal plate is still useful for holding the speakers onto their stands, since the plate has raised sections which fit snugly inside the cavity in the bottom of each ISOPod's feet. It reduces the risk of someone knocking the speakers off their stands.

Pardon me for resurrecting this thread, but it sees to be the best one to ask my question. I have a pair of the 8240A's and I have ordered the stand paltes for them (8040-408), but I would like to get the short table stand (8000-406) to put them on. However, I cannot find them on sale anywhere on the net. Did they stop making them, or is there a substitute? Thanks for your attention.
